This kit fits the 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Acura TL, and it covers every trim level of the four-door body. It carries part number VDCATL0408 and comes from Vertical Doors, Inc., the company that has been building vertical door conversions in the USA for more than 20 years. The design is a direct bolt-on: the hinges pick up the factory bolt pattern on the TL, so there is no cutting or welding, and the car can go back to its stock hinges whenever you want.

The hinges are made in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the design is patented here as well. Every kit ships with a printed instruction manual, and free tech support is available by phone, email or social media if you get stuck. Even so, we recommend having a professional installer handle the conversion, working from the instructions supplied with the kit. Since the whole thing bolts to factory mounting points and nothing on the body gets modified, the conversion stays fully reversible for as long as you own the car.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
