Fitment first: this kit fits the 1984 through 1996 Chevrolet Corvette C4, all trim levels across the run. Part number VDCCHEVYCORC48496 comes from Vertical Doors, Inc., the only company building these conversions in the USA, and it swaps the stock door swing for a vertical lambo-style opening while your original doors, glass, and latches stay on the car. Here is what ships in the box:

The hinges bolt directly to the factory bolt pattern, so there is no cutting or fabricating, and the whole conversion is reversible back to stock if you ever want the original doors back. Each kit is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel and carries a US patent. A printed instruction manual comes in the box and free tech support is available, but we recommend having a professional installer do the fitting and work from those supplied instructions.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
