At its core this is a hinge swap: a direct bolt-on conversion kit from Vertical Doors, Inc. that replaces the stock rear hinges on your Chrysler 300 so the doors swing up vertically instead of out. Fitment covers every trim of the 300 from 2011 through 2023, rear doors only. One habit to build: open the front doors before the rears so the panels never contact each other. The whole conversion is reversible. Unbolt the kit and the car returns to its stock hinges on the same factory holes. The kit ships with a 6 to 12 page instruction manual and free tech support is available, but we recommend having a professional installer do the work by those instructions so the doors end up aligned and adjusted correctly.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
