The Dodge Challenger has the wide body and long doors that make a vertical door conversion look right, and this kit converts a 2009-2023 Challenger to doors that swing up instead of out. You get easier exits in tight parking spots and a stance that gets noticed at any meet. Part number VDCDCHAL08 is built by Vertical Doors, Inc. for this exact body, and it fits every trim from the SXT and GT through the R/T Scat Pack, Hellcat, and SRT Hellcat.

The hinges bolt straight to the factory bolt pattern, so the kit installs without fabrication, and the conversion is fully reversible if you ever want the stock doors back. Every kit is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel and the design is patented here as well. An instruction manual comes in the box and free tech support is available, but we recommend having a professional shop handle the install using those supplied instructions so the doors are aligned and functioning the way they should be.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
