Part number VDCDMAG0408 comes from Vertical Doors, Inc. (VDI), the company that patented the vertical door hinge, and it is built specifically for the 2004-2008 Dodge Magnum. Coverage runs across all five model years, 2004 through 2008, and fits SE, SXT, R/T and SRT8 wagons on the LX platform. The kit converts the front two doors only, swinging them up instead of out into the next parking space.

The hinges bolt straight to the factory bolt pattern and are made in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the whole conversion is reversible: unbolt the kit and the doors go back to stock. Depending on the car and any aftermarket parts already on it, minor trimming of inner fender pieces may be needed, and every component should be test-fitted before final torque. Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
