Part number VDCHC06082D is the Vertical Doors Inc. lambo door hinge kit built for the 2006-2011 Honda Civic coupe. VDI has more than twenty years behind these conversions and is the only manufacturer producing vertical door kits in the USA. The hinges are made here from domestic hardened steel, the design is patented, and the kit fits every trim of the two-door Civic from 2006 through 2011.

Each kit includes:

2 Vertical Doors Inc. hinges, one for each side of the car
2 gas shocks to support the doors once they swing up
All the mounting hardware for the conversion

This is a bolt-on kit. The hinges mount straight to the Civic’s factory bolt pattern, and the conversion is fully reversible, so the car can go back to its stock doors later. A step-by-step instruction manual comes in the box and VDI offers free tech support if you get stuck. That said, we recommend having a professional installer do the work, following the instructions supplied with the kit, so the doors end up aligned and operating the way they should.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
