Part number VDCHYGEN09102DR is a lambo door hinge kit built by Vertical Doors, Inc., the only US manufacturer of vertical lambo door and ZLR conversions, with over 20 years behind their hinge designs. It converts both doors of the Hyundai Genesis Coupe to swing up instead of out, and VDI lists fitment for every trim of the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 model years, one year further than the 2015 shown in the product title.

The hinges bolt straight to the Genesis Coupe’s factory bolt pattern, and the conversion is fully reversible, so the car can go back to its stock doors later. Each kit is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel and the design is patented. VDI supplies a printed instruction manual with every kit and backs it with free tech support, and we recommend having a professional installer do the work by those instructions rather than treating it as a first wrenching project.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
