Part number VDCHYVEL11 comes from Vertical Doors, Inc., the only company building vertical lambo door and ZLR conversion hinges in the USA. This kit is made for the first-generation Hyundai Veloster and fits every trim level from 2011 through 2018. The hinges are formed from domestic hardened steel and the design is patented in the United States.

Installation is a direct bolt-on job. The hinges mount to the Veloster’s factory bolt pattern with no cutting or fabrication, and the conversion is fully reversible if you ever want the stock doors back. A step-by-step instruction manual ships in the box and VDI backs it with free tech support, but we recommend having a professional installer do the work using those instructions. VDI can also point you to local, nationwide, and mobile installers if you need one.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
