Mechanically, this is a hinge swap. Kit VDCNARM04 from Vertical Doors, Inc. replaces the stock hinges on a 2003-2015 Nissan Armada 4-door with vertical-opening lambo hinges, each paired with a gas shock that holds the door up once it is raised. The hinges bolt straight to the factory bolt pattern, and the conversion is reversible, so the Armada can go back to its original hinges later if you change your mind.

Fitment covers every model year from 2003 through 2015 and all Armada trims in that span, so there is no guesswork about which version of the truck you have. The hardware is made in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the hinge design is patented here as well. The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
