Two Vertical Doors Inc. lambo hinges bolt in where the factory hinges sit on a 1977-1990 Pontiac Laurentian, using the stock bolt pattern, so there is no cutting or welding involved in getting the doors to swing out and then up. Part number VDCPONLAU7790 covers all trim levels across that year range, and a pair of gas shocks carries the door weight once the conversion is in place.

The hinges are made in the USA from domestic hardened steel, and the design is patented here as well. Because everything mounts to the factory holes, the conversion is fully reversible: if you ever want the car back to stock, unbolt the kit and refit the original hinges. An instruction manual ships in the box and VDI backs it with free tech support, but we recommend having a professional shop do the install, working from those supplied instructions, so the doors are aligned and operating correctly from day one.

The door first swings out on the vertical pin, then lifts on the round bearing hub, and the gas shock holds it up: the two-stage motion in VDI's patent (US 6,845,547). Each kit has right and left hinge assemblies, two gas shocks, M8 bolts with washers, shoulder bolts and pins (VDI install manuals); set screw #2 and nut #1 adjust where the door closes. A typical kit, drawn from VDI's Crossfire manual: the plate, arm, brackets, shock and angles differ by vehicle, and each kit is made for its car.
